BRIEF DESCRIPTION

This research cluster contains members dedicated to the study of twelfth- and thirteenth-century Europe, with a particular interest in all aspects of the "Twelfth-Century Renaissance", including literary and pedagogic studies, family history, religious history, politics, law, theology, and gender studies.

Meeting:

December 2007: Cluster Meeting, State Library of Victoria.

Conferences and symposia:

July 2007: 2 panels at the Inaugural NEER international conference, University of Western Australia, Perth.

PUBLICATIONS

The cluster is currently putting together a volume on the twelfth-century renaissance tentatively titled Contesting the Twelfth-Century Renaissance: Individuals and their Worlds. A line-up of chapters has been completed, invitations to additional contributors outside the cluster sent, some contributions already received, and a prospectus forwarded to a number of US publishers. The volume is to be edited by Elizabeth Freeman and Juanita Ruys.
