E-consult protocols
1. E-consult is a voluntary scheme to assist Australian postgraduate students and early career researchers with advice on their research. (ARC) NEER takes no responsibility for any outcomes of the scheme, which will operate solely by means of free agreements between individuals. Correspondence will not be monitored.
2. Senior scholars who are registered with NEER and have indicated willingness to be listed as E-consultants will have their email addresses, research interests and current availability for consultation placed on the NEER website. Listed E-consultants may withdraw completely from the scheme at any time or suspend their availability for any period by notifying the NEER Coordinator.
3. Enrolled postgraduate students and early career researchers (within the first 5 years after award of the PhD), if they are registered with NEER, may initiate email contact with a listed e-consultant. It is expected that only one e-consultant will be approached at any one time; bulk emails to E-consultants are not permitted. Postgraduates and ECRs may cease participating in the E-consult scheme at any time or suspend participation for a period by notifying their E-consultant.
4. E-consultants have not agreed to act as supervisors or co-supervisors to postgraduates. They must be asked only for limited assistance with relevant research enquiries. All communication between e-consultants and postgraduates must be mindful of the primary role of the official research supervisor(s).
5. The norms of courtesy and respect must be observed at all times.
6. E-consult will be given a trial period until March 31, 2006. At that point feedback will be sought from users and the NEER Management Committee will review its operation. |
